Upcoming Plans

One thing that keeps cropping up recently in my journalling is that I have a tendency to self-sabotage. I'll make massive, lofty plans, struggle to see them through, and then abandon them quickly. I've seen that happen multiple times in all areas of my life, and I'm working on changing it.

My goal is for this website to be a creative outlet. I'll share my photos, my books, my creations, and my stories. I'll improve my writing the more I do it, and I'll hopefully teach you a few things. At the very least, I'd like to entertain you.

One thing I have learned, though, is that these things have to be sustainable. In the same way that the 'best' diet is the one that you can stick with, the 'best' version of this website will be one that I'll be able to regularly update.

This site is built with 11ty and hosted on vercel. It doesn't cost me a penny to set up and run. The code is hosted on github, and I update everything using visual studio code running on my mac. If my computer dies, I'll be able to get the latest version of the code on a different computer and keep going.

Here are a few of the things I'm planning on sharing, above the general rambling that comes with having a personal blog.

  1. my weaving. I'm a somewhat productive handweaver, and my house is slowly being taken over by the things that I've created. I'll share pictures of what I've made, and tutorials on how you can make things yourself.
  2. my photography. I've got a hard drive full of photos spanning nearly twenty years. Lots of motorsport content, and lots of travel. I don't have an instagram account, so this website is the best place to put my photos.
  3. my motorsport book collection. It's slowly been growing over the last few years and I've got a big stack of books. Most of them are historic and I'm excited to share them. We'll learn about what motorsport was like before the 1970s.
  4. my learning. I'm studying an Arts & Humanities degree with the Open University, specialising in History and Religious Studies. I also teach myself a lot of things, and I want to get that out in writing in case you'd like to learn too. Nothing I know is a secret.
